Snake-Bite Victim Fights For Life

A 38 year old Pascagoula man is in critical condition and on life support today after being bitten by his pet rattlesnake. Otis Shattles was bitten at his home Sunday. His mother, Ida Horton, says Shattles has been given 27 vials of anti-venom while in a stationary, paralytic state and had only 15 percent of his respiratory system functioning.

Shattles, an offshore worker, was bitten three or four times on his wrist and arm by his 3-year-old Eastern Diamondback rattler as he removed the snake to clean its cage.
