Gulf Coast motorists will get a say in long-range transportation plans for the area. Engineers for the Gulf Regional Planning Commission will stand in traffic and distribute surveys to 40,000 motorists in mid October. The targeted highways are Interstate 10, U-S 49, U-S 90, Mississippi 43 and Mississippi 63.

The engineers are working with law enforcement agencies to set up advance warning signs, traffic cones and flashing beacons to alert motorist to the survey carriers. The engineers hope that at least 25 percent of motorists will participate in the survey.
