Moss Point man sentenced to life in prison

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - A 20-year-old Moss Point man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison in the death of a 19-year-old woman.

The jury in the case of Nathaniel Coleman decided on the sentence Thursday night. Coleman was convicted of helping brothers Nicholas Barnes and Latarance Barnes kill Yvette Dott in 2006, in Moss Point.

The bullets that killed Dott, prosecutors said, were meant for her cousin, Deadrick Franklin, who had gotten into an argument earlier that day with Nicholas Barnes. Coleman and Yvette Dott had been raised as cousins, prosecutors said, but the family does not know if they were actually related.
