BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The classic cars may be gone, but the fancy motorcycles have taken their place. Just a week after Cruisin' the Coast, Biloxi is hosting the annual Gold Wing motorcycle rally this weekend.

The Gold Wingers are passionate about their motorcycles and ready to spend some money on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

They've converged on the coast from 20 different states. Gold Wing owners are showing off their bikes and sharing their passion for high class Hondas.

"A lot of the most friendly people you'll find is riding these Gold Wings. Up and down the street. They're all helpful and they're all friendly," said longtime Gold Winger Walter Spears.

He rode his Gold Wing from Fordice, Arkansas. His $43,000 bike is equipped with a GPS.

"The only thing I haven't got is air conditioning. The air conditioner works good in the winter and the heater works good in the summer," said a smiling Spears.

"We're expecting around 2000, maybe 2500 people. Got a big crowd here right now," said district director Greg Harbison.

This Mississippi rally continues to grow. It's become a favorite stop on the Golf Wing circuit.

"Mississippi has been known since Jim Hodge started this thing in 1987 as one of the premier rallies. And the ensuing district directors have just continued to build on what Jim and Margie Hodge have done," he said.

Gold Wingers are a bit older than the average motorcycle rider. They also have more disposable income. We found friends from Humble, Texas shopping for cycle accessories.

"The ride's great and then we love Biloxi. The people are just awesome. We look forward to it," said Linda Seligman.

Her friend was busy shopping for a helmet "pony tail."

"We find things. Look, I've got hair this time. See that? That hair sticks on your helmet. See, it just sticks right up there. And you've got yourself a pony tail," said Billie Fleming.

Gold Wingers will have fun shopping, sharing and showing off this weekend.

"The people enjoy Biloxi. They come back every year," Harbison said.

The Gold Wing headquarters is at the Coast Coliseum Convention Center in Biloxi.
