(Seattle-AP) -- Microsoft says its new version of Windows will be out in a few months. The new software, called Windows Millennium Edition, will be the successor to Windows 98. The official release date is September 14th. The new operating system will see fewer changes in the basic technology that supports it than previous upgrades. Among the key features -- Windows Me -- a media player that will help people manage both digital video and audio files. The company has also made those ever-present error messages seem a little easier to understand, and also has safeguards to keep you from accidentally deleting files that are critical to your computer's operations.
