Dredging Proposed By Ingalls

Northrop Grumman wants to dredge a section of the East Pascagoula River as part of an expansion at Ingalls. The shipbuilding company has filed a request with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers and the state Department of Marine Resources to modify a current dredging permit.

Northrop Grumman wants to rework an existing launch area and deepen it from 38 to 50 feet. The expansion will allow the Ingalls shipyard to work on offshore drilling rigs.

A Northrop Grumman spokesman declined to give specifics on the contract work.
