PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - Betty O'Bannon didn' t have a ticket to ride, but she had no trouble making it to Cruisin' the Coast this year.

"We come to Cruisin' the Coast every year, and we've been here the six past years, except for the year Katrina hit. And we were here last year. It was a lot of fun," O'Bannon said.

Betty, her husband, and some friends drove all the way from north central Texas for this year's Cruisin' event.

Money can't buy love, but it can buy gas. And although the O'Bannons shelled out more money than usual to make it to this year's event, they believe it's money well spent.

"We just were going to come, regardless," O'Bannon said. "We like to have fun, and this is one of our main fun events of the year."

Chris Clark drove his vintage car down from Petal, Mississippi.

"I come every year. I have a '67 Mustang I bring down. I've come every year since 2003," Clark said.

He took time out from showing off his car, and admiring others, to enjoy the tunes of the Beatles tribute band at the park with his cousins. Being a vintage car lover, Chris knows the importance of authenticity. He said the band was as close as you can get to the real thing.

"A little big before my time, but they do a really good time. They look and sound just like the Beatles," Clark said.

In all, more than 500 people attended the Pass Christian event and concert. The festivities continue Wednesday in Biloxi with a downtown block party. That cranks up at 8 a.m. and goes on until 2 p.m. Click here for a complete schedule of activities.
