Three people from Biloxi, Mississippi, were killed when their truck crashed on Highway 101 in South San Jose. The California Highway Patrol has identified the victims as eight-year-old Andrew Nguyen, 65-year-old Ngon Nguyen, and the driver 39-year-old Al Duc Nguyen.
Authorities say the 1994 Toyota 4-Runner was in a slow lane when traffic suddenly slowed at a construction site. The driver swerved to avoid stopped traffic and the truck plunged down a 50-foot embankment and rolled several times.
A three-year-old boy identified as Matthew Nguyen suffered major injuries. His uncle, Du Nguyen, was treated at a hospital and released. Hong Nguyen suffered two broken legs and was in serious condition at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
