Second Suspect Charged In Weekend Shooting Incident

Coahoma County authorities have charged a second suspect in last weekend's shootings in Friars Point.

Patrick Parker of Friars Point was charged Wednesday with one count of obstruction of justice. The shootout in which four law enforcement officers were wounded and one taken hostage occurred at Parker's residence. Parker's bond is set at $10,000.

Patrick Hopper, who was arrested Sunday, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He is being held in the Coahoma County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Sheriff Andrew Thompson said more charges are pending.
