Biloxi City Council Overrides Mayor

BILXOI, MS (WLOX) - Just a short while ago, the Biloxi City Council voted to override Mayor Holloway's budget veto. A special meeting was called for nine Friday morning, and the vote was 6 to 1 in favor of the overriding the veto.

Tom Wall cast the only opposing vote. Mayor Holloway said he vetoed the budget Thursday because the proposed employee pay raises and other compensations were too high during tight financial times.

Two other items were added to the special agenda by councilman Bill Stallworth requesting 100-thousand dollars each for two local charities.

WLOX will bring you more on that later, so be sure to tune into WLOX News at 5, 6 and 10.
