Sea Wolves Sign Defensive Standout

Jim Baxter is back with the Mississippi Sea Wolves . The 22-year-old defenseman signed a one year deal with the ECHL club on Tuesday.

Baxter was acquired from the Augusta Lynx in exchange for Jeff Bes on December 11, 2001. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Brantford, Ontario scored 11 goals, 29 assists for 40 points and 28 penalty minutes between Mississippi and Augusta.

Coach Bob Woods said, "Jim was a big part of turning around our season last year. He's a competitor who gives us more experience back on the blueline. I expect Baxter to take control on the power play and if he stays healthy, he'll put up big numbers."

In 29 games with the Sea Wolves Baxter netted 7 goals and 22 assists for 29 points.
