GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A group of Harrison County Cowgirls is collecting relief supplies. The TrailGrazHers are using their horse trailers to haul non perishable food, cleaning supplies, and personal products to Texas.
They've dubbed this project "Ike Relief: Cowgirls Headed West!" Their mission is to get the community to help them fill their trailers with supplies for those that Ike left in need. So this week, the ladies are asking people to drop off hurricane supplies at places like Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, and Fazzio's Home and Farm Center on Highway 53. Next Monday, the TrailGrazHers take those supplies to the Circle R Ranch in Houston.
The 25-30 women in that group normally spend their Tuesdays riding their horses along picturesque trails. But on this Tuesday, the horses stayed at their barns. The women focused on collecting hurricane supplies.
Roselee Burwell is one of the TrailGrazHers.
"With the responses we've gotten from people once we started asking for donations, it's just been very apparent that people here have not forgotten the help that came to us after Katrina. And it's going right back out," she said.
