Manix To Spend Life Without Parole

A Jackson County jury sentenced Michael Manix to spend the rest of his life in jail for the 1998 murder of Heather Hampton.

Hampton was stabbed 13 times while working at the Super 8 Motel on Highway 90. Manix is one of three men accused of killing her. Police testified this week that despite the stab wounds, Heather was still alive when they got to the hotel. They tried desperately to save her, but she later died at the hospital.

Jurors convicted Manix Friday.
