Thousands Still Without Power In Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Several thousand Mississippi residents are still without power as a result of Hurricane Gustav, primarily in the southwest part of the state. Entergy Mississippi said Thursday it had about 10,000 customers without electricity, most of them in the town of Natchez and in Wilkinson, Amite and Pike counties.

About 18,200 people served by Electric Power Associations of Mississippi members were without power, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Mississippi Power Co. says it has restored electricity to its customers.
