Dixie Youth World Series Has Action Packed First Day

Day one of the Dixie Youth World Series featured 12 games on Monday. Four fields in Pascagoula has non-stop action going as teams from all over the region are fighting for national titles in the 9-10 year old and 11-12 year old divisions. Three local teams lost, and one local team won on Monday.

  • Hattiesburg's 11-12 year olds lost to Morgan City, Louisiana 7-3.
  • Moss Point's 9-10 year olds fell to Bartow, Florida 6-5.
  • Pascagoula's 9-10 year olds were shut out 11-0 by Montgomery. 
  • Pascagoula's 11-12 year olds defeated Lee County, Georgia 4-3.

Twelve more games are set for Tuesday.

    With his professional baseball career in the books, Fred Lewis is back in South Mississippi and paying it forward. The Stone and Mississippi Gulf Coast product returned to Perkinston to hold his Believe It and Achieve It Camp, a free baseball clinic that allowed area youth a chance to rub elbows and get hands-on instruction from a former Major League Baseball player.
