USS Preble Turned Over To The Navy

Northrop Grumman Ship Systems has turned over the USS Preble guided missile destroyer to the U.S. Navy.

A traditional ceremony was held Monday at Ingalls shipyard where the ship was built. Just moments after that ceremony, the crew raised an American flag to signify the 509-foot vessel was now part of the Navy's fleet.

The Preble will remain at the shipyard for a few more weeks, then travel to Boston for a commissioning ceremony in early November. It is the 17th guided missile destroyer Ingalls has built for the Navy.
