President Praises Hattiesburg Teen For Volunteer Service

President Bush on Wednesday took a moment to praise 18-year-old Star Wallin of Hattiesburg for her community volunteer work.

"She has set a fabulous example,'' Bush said during a speech at Madison Central High School.

The Hattiesburg High School graduate will attend Vanderbilt University this fall. She founded Project CARE, an organization that gives young people opportunities to help others. Bush said teenagers acted as mentors to more than 300 children. They also helped the needy and revived playgrounds.

Bush also praised Wallin's parents.

"They did a pretty darn good job of raising you,'' he told the teen.
