Harrah's Bus Crash Kills Three

TUNICA, MS (WLOX) - At Casino Center Drive and Highway 61 a rainy Sunday morning turned tragic.

"We do confirm a bus crash on US 61," said Sgt. Wesley White with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Three dead, countless others hurt when a Harrah's Casino Tour Bus flipped over. 43 people were on board, the driver plus 42 passengers from South Carolina.

The tour group was visiting the casinos in Tunica. The bus ride was the first leg of the trip home.

"They were being transported like he said from Harrah's to Tunica Airport," said Larry Liddell, the Tunica County Public Information Officer.

A trip cut short before it ever really started.  At least seven medical choppers responded and too many ground ambulances to count.

With the crash scene long since cleared, police are still sorting through the chaos, trying to track down all the victims.

Sgt. White said, "We have officers at all the hospitals. We're not even sure how many hospitals they were transported to."

Some ended up in the hospital, some in the hearse. Their tour bus was heading South on Highway 61 when the driver swerved and lost control.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Officers are investigating, trying to figure out why. Why a rainy Sunday morning turned terribly tragic.
