Brass Season Still In Doubt

The New Orleans Brass still don't know if they will get to play this season.

Brass officials had hoped the New Orleans City Council would introduce an ordinance concerning a lease proposal for the hockey team to play in Morris F-X Jeff Senior Municipal Auditorium. The new ordinance was tabled Thursday. The council is scheduled to discuss the issue when it meets August 8th.

Brass owner John Georges says management has met with officials at the New Orleans Arena to make arrangements for playing early games there. Thus far, only two players, defenseman Chad Dameworth and goaltender Shawn Degagne, have signed on with other teams.

Brass vice president and general manager Dan Belisle had asked the players, who were declared free agents July 18th, to hang on until August 1st.
