GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Deputies say a Gulfport man tried to kill himself at the Harrison County Courthouse Thursday. According to the district attorney's office, Paul Graves Junior's suicide attempt came just minutes after being found guilty on manslaughter charges in the shooting death of his brother.
Graves was in a holding cell at the courthouse in Gulfport. Deputies say Graves apparently took off his shirt, tied it to a bench and tried to hang himself. Someone watching the holding cell monitor called officers, who took Graves to the hospital.
Graves is now back at the Harrison County Jail under a 24 hour suicide watch. He will be sentenced September 2.
