GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -- Gautier police are investigating an apparent murder in that city, and the victim's son is the primary suspect.

Gautier Mayor Pete Pope told WLOX News that the woman found dead in her trailer Monday morning is 68-year-old Juanita Gibson. She lived at Brown's Trailer Park, just off Highway 57.

Gautier police say Gibson's body was found Monday morning around 7am by a family member.

An autopsy performed by Coroner Vicki Broadus confirmed that the death was a homicide. The official cause of death is believed to be blunt force trauma. Broadus told WLOX News that Ms. Gibson may have been dead for several days.

Police investigators have issued a murder warrant for the victim's son, 51-year-old Rodney J. Lasseigne, who also lived on Brown Road in Gautier. He was last seen on Thursday, July 17 leaving his mother's home in a silver 2008 Toyota Yaris.

Anyone with information about this crime or the whereabouts of Rodney Lasseigne is asked to contact the Gautier Police Department Investigations Division at (228) 497-8010.
