Pippin Takes Charge At Farm Bureau Invitational

Amateur Lane Pippin of Ocean Springs turned a 3-shot lead heading into the final round Sunday into an 8-shot romp in winning the Farm Bureau Invitational. Pippin's three-round 208 was 8 strokes better than the second place amateur finisher, Donny Holman. Haymes Snedeker finished third for the amateurs, shooting a 217. It was the seventh straight year the tournament, open to both pros and amateurs, was won by a nonprofessional. Pippin shot a tournament-low 68 in Sunday's final round, matching his first-round score. Snedeker was the only other player to shoot a 68 at Tupelo Country Club. Leigh Brannan, who in 1995 was the last pro to win the event, tied Russ Pitts for the best pro score at 217.
