Despite his attorney's attempt to dismiss them, statements that a man accused of murder gave authorities can be used against him in court.
20 year old Thong Le was arrested on three counts of capital murder in November of last year. He and 27 year old Ngan Tran are accused of strangling and beating Minh Huynh and her two daughters to death.
Le told investigators that Tran killed all three people, and Tran said they were going to the house to rob the woman.
Le's attorney says Le has trouble understanding English and was unfamiliar with police procedures and his rights. But a judge ruled yesterday that Le "did" understand and voluntarily gave a statement.
Tran hung himself in his cell in April. The death was determined to be a suicide, although the FBI is investigating.
