June is National Dairy Month What a great time to take a look at whether or not you are having 3 servings of dairy a day. Did you know that includes adults and seniors as well as children?
People need the calcium and other essential nutrients dairy provides to help keep bones strong and bodies fit.
In addition to calcium, dairy provides eight essential nutrients, including phosphorus, potassium, protein, vitamins D, A and B12, riboflavin and niacin (niacin equivalents).

Choco ‘Nana Milk Mixer
3 1/2 c. low-fat chocolate milk
1 T. creamy peanut butter
1 medium banana peeled, cut into chunks
Pour milk, peanut butter and banana chunks into a blender container. Blend on medium speed 1 minute until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and serve.
Fruity Splash Smoothie
1 c. fat-free milk
5-7 large unsweetened frozen strawberries
1 medium ripe banana, cut into chunks
1 T. honey
6 oz. orange juice
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses. If there is any leftover smoothie, pour it into small plastic cups, cover the top of the cups with plastic wrap, insert a stick in the middle and freeze. This makes great frozen fruit pops.
Note: You can blend up your own favorite smoothie concoction. Just remember to use milk or yogurt to give you that cool, creamy base. Then add your own favorite ingredients.
