Musgrove: I'll Hear Clemency Appeals

Governor Ronnie Musgrove said Thursday that he'll hear clemency appeals for condemned inmate Tracy Alan Hansen.

Musgrove will meet Friday with Bishop William Houck, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, who wants Hansen's sentence commuted to life in prison. Musgrove says he will listen to Houck and will be open-minded. He says, however, that he supports the death penalty.

Musgrove also says he's gotten a clemency request from Hansen's attorney, Merrida Coxwell of Jackson. Musgrove says he'll also meet with Coxwell. Musgrove says he'll make public what decision he makes on the clemency request.
