Heart Surgery Sidelines Mississippi State Recruit

Mississippi State football recruit Deljuan Robinson will undergo surgery on July 18th to correct a leaky heart valve and will miss the 2002 season.

Robinson is scheduled for heart surgery in Memphis. The heart problem was diagnosed a few days before last month's Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Classic in Mobile. The condition is NOT life threatening and didn't keep Robinson from playing.

A 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive line from Hernando signed with Mississippi State in January after considering L-S-U, Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia.

According to his mother, Robinson won't face an extended hospital stay or especially long period of inactivity. Annette Bell says Robinson plans to start classes this fall and if everything goes well, he could start exercising again in six weeks.
