GULFPORT (WLOX) -- The Reverend Harry Tartt of Gulfport passed away Tuesday morning, leaving behind a legacy of service. He was an educator, a decorated veteran, minister and community leader.
For the last three decades, the Reverend Tartt worked at the Gulf Coast Community Action Agency. He was also a Major in the U.S. Army, and served during World War II.
During an interview with WLOX's Jeff Lawson for our Veteran's History Project, the Rev. Tartt spoke about how he wished to be remembered.
"The legacy I would like to leave behind is to have an open mind and not condemn, but to accept people and listen to people," Tartt said in March of 2007.
