GULFPORT (WLOX) -- The Gulfport police officer just cleared by a Grand Jury for any wrongdoing has just been suspended from the Gulfport Police Department.
Chief Alan Weatherford says Officer Bryan Watson was suspended Friday for two weeks without pay for a March 20th accident on Highway 49.
That serious accident left 75-year-old Eleanor Mize in critical condition for weeks. She's still hospitalized, but is now in stable condition.
Officer Watson didn't have his lights or sirens on while speeding to an emergency call when he hit Ms. Mize.
Although the Grand Jury found there was no indictable criminal cause, the police department did its own investigation and decided to suspend Watson without pay. The department will continue to look at possible procedural changes.
