Developers Break Ground On New Best Buy In Gulfport

GULFPORT (WLOX) -- More commercial development is coming to the Orange Grove area of Gulfport.

Developers hosted a dedication event Friday at the intersection of Highway 49 and Community Road, where a new Best Buy store will be built. The 30,000 square foot retail center is expected to be finished by the end of this year.

One of the development partners is a Gulfport native who sees the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a great place to invest.

Commercial developer Peyton Cottrell said, "We're building back what was already here. So, the market was already here for it. And then at the same time with the gaming revenue increasing and the economy of the coast coming back so strongly, it's a very safe place to invest."

Cottrell's company is involved in several other commercial projects along the coast, including Edgewater Village in Biloxi and the DelChamps Plaza redevelopment in D'Iberville.
