Rep. Jamie Creel Arrested On Assault & Malicious Michief Charges

State Rep. Jamie Creel of Biloxi is back in legal hot water.

The lawmaker has been arrested on simple assault and malicious mischief charges. Police confirm that Creel turned himself in on Wednesday and was released on $515 bond.

City officials say the arrest came after two separate incidents this past weekend at Cheryl's Bistro in downtown.

The city would not release any other information, so it is unclear who filed the charges or why.

Creel did not return our telephone calls, but his attorney Tom Musselman told WLOX News that he would not comment on the matter because he had not read the complaint.

Creel has been arrested twice on DUI charges, but pleaded guilty to reckless driving. A third DUI arrest resulted in a conviction.

The lawmaker has also been charged with reckless driving and paid a fine in the city of Jackson.
