Biloxi Hands Out Volunteer Recognition Awards

BILOXI (WLOX) -- Wednesday night, Biloxi honored its new Distinguished Volunteer of the Year during the 2008 Volunteer Recognition Awards. 

Kathy Springer, Assistant Administrator at Biloxi Regional Medical Center, was recognized for her countless hours of volunteer work. 

Springer was one of 12 volunteers recognized in volunteer categories ranging from Health to Education.  The winners are as listed:

Distinguished Volunteer: Kathy Springer

Community Volunteer: Marie Manning 

Youth Volunteer: Stevie Cantrell 

Health Volunteer: Biloxi Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Volunteers

Arts & History Volunteer: Jeff Melton 

Sports Volunteer: Darryl Platt 

Education Volunteer: Charlene Deaton 

Adult Group Volunteer: The Salvation Army 

Youth Volunteer Group: Biloxi High School JROTC 

City of Biloxi Employee Volunteer: Tommy Seawright 

Non-Profit Organization: Lutheran Disaster Response 

Military Volunteer: Captain Michael Wrey
