International Sales Keep Gulfport Yacht Builder Afloat

GULFPORT (WLOX) -- A Florida woman came to Gulfport Wednesday and watched in amazement as her $40 million yacht was launched into the industrial seaway.

The Norwegian Queen Two is a three deck vessel with a very contemporary look. It was built by the craftsmen at Trinity Yachts in Gulfport.

At a time when the U.S. economy is struggling, the Trinity shipyard remains very busy. Trinity's president credits that to a growing international customer base that's taking advantage of a weak U.S. dollar.

"The overseas clients think our boats are on sale. So, it's great for our business. The last six boats, we've sold to overseas clients. And we see that as a continuing trend," Trinity Yachts President John Dane said.

Trinity Yachts has launched two super yachts this year. Three more should be completed before 2008 ends. In fact, the shipyard is looking for 200 more employees to build all the yachts it has on order.
