GULFPORT (WLOX) -- After several months of rebuilding, St. Peters by the Sea is finally complete. Wednesday night, hundreds gathered at the beachfront church for a special consecration service.
Hurricane Katrina destroyed the church, but what the storm couldn't take away was the hope, grace and commitment from the members of the 100-year-old church.
Leaders dedicated the walls, pulpit, pews and even the music in the church. They say the faith that comes from the members will never tear the church apart.
Now their hoping St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church will soon become a beacon of hope, a place of healing and an instrument of grace for people all over the coast.
St. Peters by the Sea was founded back in 1902.
