Gulfport Woman Recovering After Accident With Cop Car

GULFPORT (WLOX) -- We have good news about the woman critically injured in a crash with a Gulfport Police car. A close family member of Eleanor Mize told WLOX News Thursday that her condition is improving, she is off the ventilator and has been communicating with family.

A week ago, the 75-year-old woman was leaving a Sonic restaurant on Highway 49 when a patrol car crashed into her car. The officer was headed to an emergency call, but didn't have on his siren or flashing lights.

Officer Bryan Watson is on administrative leave while the accident is being investigated.

Ms. Mize's family told us she's remembering bits of what happened.
