Light Turnout Expected At Tuesday's Primary Election

Thad Cochran finds out on Tuesday who his democratic challenger will be.

James Bootie Hunt and Steven Turney are the only two democrats who qualified for Tuesday's party primary.

At election offices around the state, democratic poll workers spent Monday picking up their ballot boxes. Democratic committee members admitted that the candidates running for U.S. Senate probably won't generate much voter turnout.

"Maybe 10 percent, maybe," Democratic committee member Gene Verrett said. "We're prepared for that many or more. And we can handle anywhere from 15 to 20 percent. You have to be prepared for the unexpected."

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tune in to WLOX News at 10 on Tuesday for statewide results.
