Mississippi State Stays Alive In The SEC Baseball Tournament

(Hoover, Alabama-AP) -- Chad Henry went 3-for-5 with four R-B-Is and Paul Maholm pitched a complete game as Mississippi State remained alive in the Southeastern Conference tournament with a 10-to-3 victory over Georgia today.

Seventh-seeded Mississippi State (34-23-1) scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added four in the eighth.

Georgia (30-27), which has lost seven straight, finally got on the board with three runs in the eighth. But Maholm retired the final six batters, giving up six hits while striking out six and walking two.

Jon Mungle was 3-for-4 for Mississippi State, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Bobby Goodson also had a pair of R-B-Is.

Adam Swann was 2-for-4 with an R-B-I for Georgia.

Mississippi State plays the Florida in another elimination 3;00 p.m. Friday.

Georgia, meanwhile, must hope for an N-C-A-A regional bid.
