Four Mississippi students were recognized Thursday as the first Nissan Scholarship recipients.
Each of the winners met eligibility requirements that included academic achievement, leadership ability and career goals that support the automotive industry. The scholarships will cover the cost of full college tuition, fees and books.
The money to pay for the scholarships was part of the state's $295 million incentive package to Nissan.
Awarded the scholarships were Javier Calderon of Madison, Arlecia Hudson of Canton, Larea McWilliams of Ruleville, and Karolina Sarnowska of Diamondhead.
