Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr says the project to install new street lights along Highway 90 is moving "slower than expected."
Mayor Warr says it's because the federal highway administration required a new, higher wind standard for the light poles. They must be rated to withstand winds of 140 miles an hour.
The mayor says the lights are being installed along the beach highway just as quickly as the poles are manufactured. He says the project should be finished in the next 60 to 90 days.
