Leo Laurent Back In Court

Hancock County authorities says murder suspect Leo Laurent has told seven different accounts of the death of his wife Brandi. Laurent was in court Friday for his preliminary hearing on the murder charge.

Laurent's latest account relayed in court said Brandi Laurent was shot as the couple wrestled over a gun inside their Hancock County trailer in August. Though the coroner says the official cause of death is strangulation, the autopsy did indicate Brandi Laurent had some injuries that could be consistent with a gunshot wound. Investigators also say a bullet hole was discovered in the Laurent's trailer.

Leo Laurent reported his wife missing in August and friends and family began a massive search for the mother of two. Leo Laurent was questioned a number of times in the months between her disappearance and when her body was found in early November. The woman was found in a shallow grave not far from the couple's home.

Leo Laurent's attorney requested his clients bond be cut from $1,000,000 to $100,000, but the judge denied that request.

Steve Phillips will have more on the court proceedings on WLOX News at 6pm and 10pm.
