Henegan Sentenced To Life For Broadmoor Murders

The man who terrorized the Broadmoor neighborhood of Gulfport in the fall of 2006 admitted his guilt in court Friday.

Mark Alan Henegan said he had been on a two week crack cocaine binge when he beat Delphia Fitts and Anthony Caranna to death, after each welcomed him into their homes. They knew Henegan, because he grew up in the neighborhood.

In court Friday morning, Henegan turned to the victims' families with tears in his eyes and told them he was sorry. One family member told told Henegan he should "rot in hell," but the others said they would pray for him. The victims' families also asked prosecutors not to seek the death penalty.

For his two capital murder convictions, Henegan was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.
