A water main break in one Biloxi Community left more than a mess. It happened in the Southern View Apartments behind Treasure Bay Casino.
Brenda Hart says she saw water bubbling from the ground late Saturday night. Once she made it inside the community, she went straight to her landlord.
"I said Renee, I think you need to step outside. I don't think this is a normal water drainage, and he says 'Oh my god,'" Hart said.
What started as puddles of water left a giant sinkhole in front of the Southern View Apartments.
"We figure it's six feet deep and six feet across in a circle," Hart said.
Several residents witnessed what happened, including Carol Robershaw.
"I drove home from work and drove right across where the areas where the hole is at, and a few minutes later there was commotion out here. And there was a huge hole and water everywhere. A couple more minutes, and I may have been sitting in that hole trying to figure out a way to get out," Robershaw said.
Jason Longdon was among the first to see the water main break.
"The water was just rushing all the way down the streets," Longdon said.
Minutes after the street caved in, crews from the City of Biloxi arrived to drain the streets. They worked until four o'clock Sunday morning getting rid of all the water. City crews will be back on the street tomorrow to continue working on the sinkhole.
