"Out of this World" is the theme for this year's Krewe of Gemini parade. That's a fitting way to describe this year's parade according to some first-timers we spoke with.
"It's my first Mardi Gras, so I'm a little excited. I've never been to Mardi Gras before," said Ana Lanning.
Lanning moved to South Mississippi six months ago from Florida. She hopes Mardi Gras is something that will eventually catch on in her home state.
"We should bring it over there. It's fun. Everybody's out here. Everyone's having a good time. We need to bring it to Florida," Lanning said.
Eight-year-old Long beach resident Chelsea Thornton and her friend Karrigyn White have been to quite a few parades. They've mastered the art of catching beads and other throws over the course of their young lives. They never leave empty-handed.
"First it's the hat. My friend and her uncle bought this for me for ten dollars. I'm really thankful for it. The second one is these big beans. Really, my friend threw it for me in the parade, so I got it. At first I got in a fight, but Ms. Sandra got it for me," Chelsea Thronton.
"It's so much fun. I love to go there, and I love to be in the parade," Karrigyn said.
The Gemini Night Parade will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in downtown Gulfport.
