A Jackson County Sheriff's deputy shot a man Wednesday night after responding to a domestic dispute in Latimer.

Police were called the home of James Charles Abner, 35, after he allegedly fired shots at his wife and repeatedly struck his father in the head with a gun.

When deputies tried to arrest him, Abner took to the woods behind his Broadnax Road home. Hours later, when police found him, Sheriff Mike Byrd says Abner pointed a gun at officers. That's when a deputy shot Abner in the arm.

James Abner faces several charges, including three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.
