Husband Gets Life Without Parole For Officers' Deaths

Ronald Husband will spend the rest of his life in prison without a chance for parole for the 2005 killings of two Wiggins police officers. That was the decision of a Lauderdale County Circuit Court jury Monday night.

A series of setbacks on Monday kept jurors from beginning deliberations until around 5:30pm. Three jurors were replaced during the sentencing phase alone. One person had a family medical emergency, while two others sent a note to the judge saying they simply could not deliberate any further. Still, it took jurors just about an hour to decide Husband's fate.

The Maxie man was convicted Saturday of shooting 48-year-old Odell Fite and 23-year-old Brandon Breland after the two Wiggins officers answered a domestic violence call on Nov. 27, 2005.

The trial was moved from Stone County to Lauderdale County because of pretrial publicity.
