Judicial Bribery Trial Is Delayed

A federal judge today delayed the judicial bribery trial of attorney Dickie Scruggs and two others. Scruggs, his son Zach and law partner Sidney Backstrom appeared before Judge Neal Biggers in Oxford this morning. All three have pleaded not guilty to charges they tried to bribe Circuit Court Judge Henry Lackey to rule in their favor in a dispute of Katrina case legal fees. The trial was set for February 25th, but has been delayed until March 31st to allow defense attorneys more time to get evidence from the government.
