Burleson Named Bay St. Louis Police Chief

Tom Burleson, the man that has served as Bay St. Louis' Interim Police Chief for the past year was officially named to the post Tuesday night. City council members ratified the mayor's choice in a two to three vote.

Mayor Eddie Favre said Burleson was selected out of a field of 18 qualified applicants. He said he choose Burleson because he was looking for dedication, stability and continuity in the department in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The mayor said the city needed a chief who would be there for the long haul.

As for the city's vacant Fire Chief position, the Mayor expects to make his selection in the coming weeks.
