Sheriff Expects To Charge Laurent With Wife's Murder Today

WLOX News has confirmed through several sources that Leo Laurent will be charged Wednesday in connection with his wife's murder.

Hancock County Sheriff Steve Garber told WLOX News Tuesday night, "We will be meeting with investigators and the DA first thing tomorrow [Wednesday] and feel confident we will be arresting Leo Laurent for his wife's murder as early as tomorrow morning."

Brandi Laurent was last seen near her home in the Fenton community in Hancock County August 3rd. Her husband reported her missing.

Authorities have considered Leo Laurent a 'person of interest' almost since the beginning of the investigation into Brandi's disappearance. He has repeatedly denied any wrong doing and blamed his wife's disappearance on a drug problem.

In November, three months after her disappearance, the 29-year-old's body was found in a shallow grave not far from her home during a huge community organized search operation.

Leo Laurent has been in jail since last week on embezzlement charges which are unrelated to the investigation of his wife's death. But sources tell WLOX News Leo Laurent will be charged in his wife's death Wednesday.

The development is being also reported on the website, where friends of Brandi Laurent have been following the case and sharing tips since August.

A news conference is scheduled Wednesday morning in Hancock County where investigators will make their first official comments.
