Gulfport Accident Scene Turns Into A Crime Scene

Two automobile accidents Tuesday afternoon in Gulfport have left three drivers injured and a trail of unanswered questions.

Around 3:30pm Tuesday afternoon, police say a Chevy Malibu was hit by a blue van at the corner of Hewes and Pass Road. Other drivers say the van sped away.

Phillip Marshall came upon the accident and ended up following the van. Less than a mile away, at the intersection of Hewes and 24th, Marshall says he witnessed a second accident involving the van and a truck.

Emergency personnel say the woman driving the truck had multiple injuries from the head-on crash. The driver of the van also had several injuries from the accident. But a paramedic told WLOX News the driver also had a gunshot wound to the chest.

Suddenly, the accident scene became a crime scene.

Gulfport Deputy Police Chief Alfred Sexton says there are many unanswered questions, like where the man was when he was shot, who he is and why he was driving wounded?

If you have any information on the shooting please call the Gulfport Police Department at (228) 868-5959.
