Laurent Surrenders To PRC Officials

The husband of a Hancock County murder victim was arrested Wednesday in Pearl River County on charges from an unrelated embezzlement case.

Leo Laurent is the husband of Brandi Laurent, the young mother whose body was found in a shallow grave near their home in early November.

The 30-year-old Laurent surrendered Wednesday afternoon and is being held in the Pearl River County Jail. He was wanted on a bench warrant, after failing to appear in court on an earlier embezzlement case.

That case involves charges that he embezzled money from an employer in Picayune last year.

Laurent has been described as a "person of interest" in the ongoing investigation of his wife's murder. He has repeatedly said he had nothing to do with her killing.
