USO Lounge Opens At Gulfport-Biloxi Airport

America's military will receive first class treatment when troops fly out of the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.

A USO lounge opened this week on the terminal's second floor. The area gives military personnel a place to relax, watch TV or e-mail friends and family while they're waiting for a flight.

The lounge has been open just two days, and already more than 100 men and women in uniform have stopped by to relax before their flights.

"There was such a need for something here at the airport for our troops. It saddens us when we see them outside, laying around on the floor with their duffle bags as pillows. So we want to be able to provide that home away from home atmosphere for them," USO Lounge Deputy Director Felice Kelly said.

According to airport leaders, Gulfport has the only USO lounge in the region. If you're in the military and you're flying home this weekend, the lounge is open 7am-7pm.
